Audible is a well known name in the US, but as the storied brand wanted to expand to new global markets, they needed a brand system that could show the offering and promise of Audible in any market and any language.

This offered an exciting opportunity for a small but mighty team to build a more flexible brand system capable of supporting a wider range of storytelling across markets and platforms.

Our goal was to create a clear, scalable visual system that strengthened brand recognition while giving teams the flexibility to express Audible’s diverse catalog.

The Brand System
With fellow partner-in-crime Emily Zabaleta, we designed the refreshed Audible visual system, establishing a framework that balanced consistency with creative flexibility.

A refined color palette
Identifying an ownable color framework that strengthens brand recognition while supporting a wide range of campaign and content applications.

Secondary graphics
A system of supporting graphic elements that bring movement and energy to the brand while maintaining a consistent visual language.

Streamlined typography
Keeping the brand equity of our custom typeface, Audible Sans, but with new type hierarchies that are clear, product-informed, and scalable.

Illustration system
Expanding and codifying the Audible illustration style to support a broader range of genres, storytelling styles, and global campaigns.

A shiny new brand guidelines site
To support global adoption, we developed a centralized brand guidelines site documenting the visual system and providing practical guidance for teams.

This detailed the four key elements above, but also provided guidance on subjects like content featuring, photography, and brand writing.

To aid in implementation across teams and agencies, the team created several helpful resources:

Brand Asset File
This comprehensive working file consolidates all brand elements into a single resource.

Product Asset Templates
New brand templates for app assets, created in partnership with the UX/Product teams.

Presentation Templates
Refreshed PowerPoint and Figma presentation templates supporting all teams at Audible.

Launch & adoption
With this new system in hand, we went to work rolling out the new brand guidelines throughout the entirety of a large organization:

Brand Sizzle Reel
A launch film was created in collaboration with Versus, capturing the energy and direction of the refreshed brand.

Brand Creative Trainings
We delivered 9 global training sessions reaching more than 300 people in both internal teams and external agencies.

Office hours & Askbrand
Besides weekly office hours, the team operated an internal email for anyone in the org to get brand-related questions answered quickly.

Impact
The refreshed brand system became the foundation for Audible’s creative work across all global marketing and internal communications.

The system continues to evolve as Audible grows, with ongoing updates to the guidelines and visual framework, with contributions from the brand team and employees across the entire organization.
